born in 1967 in Hamburg, in the north of Germany.
For the last 40 years the artist has been experimenting with the camera. In the 1990s she expanded her knowledge in black & white photography by learning from Herbert Wagner and Carmen Oberst, both well-known teachers and artists in Hamburg.
After many experimental works in black-and-white around the turn of Millenium, Andrea Lothar is nowadays dealing with colour and light gradients in free nature.
In her current art things are not always what they seem to be! Lothar´s pictures challenge the beholder to question his own perception of reality, to open his mind for whatever is not obvious.
